CSYFL Under 18s Division 1 WARSASH WASPS 0- 2 SWAY Sway Battle to Victory Sway came out on top in another hard fought encounter with familiar opposition. The start was tight and scrappy and Sway struggled to get their passing game going in the first half. Confidence seemed to drain on a less than perfect pitch but to their credit, Sway battled through and suffered early casualties as a result. Matt Hillyar only lasted 15 minutes having starred for Sway Reserves the previous day and Jordan Harrison’s bravery in aerial battles and a clash of heads ended his involvement on 30 minutes. Sway re-grouped at half-time and realised that extra work was required off the ball to get their game back on track. Finally, and with a tactical change allowing Charley Dukes to exploit space on the right, Sway’s football started to flow. Short passing between Sam Roberts, George Edwards and Charley Dukes resulted in a perfect cross but Edwards could only head over from close range. This was merely a dress rehearsal however and a series of one-twos by the same players down the right resulted in George Edwards calmly slotting under the keeper for Sway’s first 15 minutes into the second half. Sway stepped up a gear and the tireless Lewis Geard beat the keeper all ends up, only to see his 25 yard volley hit the bar. Quick thinking in the last 5 minutes put the game beyond doubt when Jaq Rashleigh’s short free-kick started more good work down the right, allowing Ben Elliott-Haffenden to score in-off the post to keep his goal a game record intact. A great away win against tough opposition with the new Sway Squad proving they can battle and win ugly when their free flowing football doesn’t come off. Sway Youth FC: James Cornwell, Jaq Rashleigh, Jordan Harrison, Matt Smith, Chris Haining, George Edwards, Charley Dukes, Sam Roberts, Matt Hillyar, Tom Dymond, Ben Elliott-Haffenden, Lewis Geard, Rob Linsley, Josh Elliott, Steffen Hall, Aidan Lacy.
