Camden Rugby Club enjoyed it’s fourth clean sweep at home this year with resounding victories on the weekend against University of Wollongong. Being the last home game of the season, First grade’s win maintained an unbeaten home match record in 2013. The day started with much anticipation as wins in all three grades were likely to give Camden a place in the Major Semi Finals on Saturday 31 August to be held at the home ground at Wire Lane. A good crowd turned up to give vocal support to the player’s efforts on the field. Third grade set the tone for the day with a solid performance seeing Camden finish the game well for a 45-28 win. Best on field were Aaron Tutoka and Matt Norrie. Second grade dominated their match throughout scoring a total of ten tries for a 62-7 victory. Mark Morris was a leading force in the forwards, allowing Ethan Whittington and the rest of the backs to play a running game of attractive rugby. First grade saw a see-sawing match for 60 minutes before Camden took control to run away 57-33. Nick Daly scored two tries in a man of the match performance. The high scores, great weather, and three wins left the Camden supporters thrilled with the days play. Saturday 31 August should be one of the biggest days in Camden Rugby for more than fifteen years. Mark it in your calendars as a must!
