Cancelation of 2015 Cornish Series SORRY! Matt Southam and I had a meeting on the 7th January with the owner/ manager of Perranporth airfield to discuss the use of the airdrome for cycle racing. He explained that his plans include erecting a permanent barrier across the race circuit we use, just before the last corner. He did offered a section of runway but this was totally unsuitable being both very rough, exposed and remote. We sensed that we simply did not fit in to his plans particularly as we explained that we could not generate much more money. It is therefore with regret, that Matt and I have no choice but to cancel the 2015 Cornish Series. We have explored, The Cornwall Show Ground ( too expensive ), Portreath again( increased security and too expensive), Wheal Jane ( long term project if at all), had discussion with Cornwall CC on a site and have their outline agreement, but again it is a long term project dependant upon funding. I have visited almost all senior schools and colleges in Cornwall but have not seen anything that would work. If there is anyone out there who thinks they know of a suitable site please tell us as know. Rod James and Matt Southam. Matt and I did discuss running two road races this year and have asked Andy Parker for some suitable dates. Watch this space.
