Cancer is an epic journey. The Cycliad is an epic adventure. I need your help! Would you please help me in my mission to raise funds for the nearly 70,000 cancer patients of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and our 12 Associate hospitals across the 5 state region! The Cycliad is a long distance bicycle ride designed to challenge and accommodate all types of riders to raise funds and make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. Our goal is for 100% of rider fundraising (your donations) go directly into programs and services that support these patients. My goal is to get a small donation of at least $25 from everyone in my circle... will you please help me today?! Two years ago, we began planning for this exciting charity bicycle ride that will directly support cancer programs and research for patients who are experiencing a challenging cancer journey. The Cycliad ride will cover approximately 1,300 miles over 4 consecutive weekends, beginning on April 9th. We will ride through 5 states and stop at all 12 Associate cancer center sites. The final celebration will be at UAB on Sunday, May 3rd. It is a massive project, but very exciting... there is nothing like this in the southeast! For my business friends, I have a special offer... for a donation of $1000 I will wear your company name/logo throughout the event! As the founder of the Deep South Cancer Foundation and the Cycliad ride, I will be on my bike in every leg of the event (the Lord willing) and will participate in all of the 13 hospital celebrations. Your company logo will get my personal representation wherever I go! Please join me and the Cycliad family, where we challenge each other physically so that those battling cancer do not have to face their physical challenges alone. Thank you for your partnership in this years Cycliad! About the Cycliad Ride Two and a half years ago, UAB was awarded a $15 million dollar grant from a division of Medicare to build a new model for supporting cancer patients in active treatment. This new program pairs a trained patient navigator (think ?patient advocate?) with a cancer patient to help them navigate the complex journey of their cancer treatment. The major goals have been to increase patient satisfaction, lower health care costs by reducing unnecessary treatment, and help patients make informed decisions about advanced stages of their disease. Learn more about the Patient Care Connect program: patientcareconnect.org/ The navigator program has been tremendously successful, but the services of navigators are not reimbursed by insurance. The Cycliad bicycle ride is dedicated to providing funds to continue serving cancer patients with patient navigators and other much needed support services.
