Canon Fidelity Paradox: FX has been running a Marvel Universe Marathon today, leading up to the premiere of CAPTAIN AMERICA: the WINTER SOLDIER this Friday, and it got me thinking. For what J.J. Abrams did to the Star Trek canon, I would gleefully watch him being sodomized with barbed wire baseball bat. Yet, for all the canon changes in the Marvel Universe, Ive dismissed them as evolution of the characters. Secret identities are practically non-existent, origin stories have been changed, long-standing villains are killed off, even costumes have been changed (Captain America NOT in his star-spangled tights?), and its no big deal. Has me wondering - is the canon for some series more important than the canon for the others?
