Case Study for Dec #1 (Plumbing) Mr Tian* engaged a plumbing company to replace two toilet bowls on 12 April 2012 and paid $840 via cheque. A leakage to the master bedrooms bathroom was detected on 17 April 2012. As there was a 90-day warranty, Mr Tian sought a rectification by telephone and fax to no avail. The companys staff used harsh language when he confronted them on the phone. Mr Tian decided to cancel the cheque and subsequently engaged another plumber to rectify for $120. He is willing to pay $840 if the company promises to reimburse him $120 thereafter. CASE negotiated with the plumbing company on the behalf of Mr Tian, who was eventually awarded a reimbursement of $120 after the $840 payment. *Please note that surnames have been changed to protect the privacy of the consumers.
