Certainly Tavleen is no fiscal expert and thats is so evident too. People are scared to tax- comply, however for several other reasons, but return filing hassle is no more a significant reason now. Technically for most salaried taxpayers, the exercise of online IT return filing will take much lesser time than writing an article like the one written by Tavleen despite its naive findings. There are obvious issues for business entities, particularly SME, but the ostensible reason for that is overwhelming drive for personal enrichment over their fiscal responsibility. Way back I did a tax compliance cost project in 2000, which showed inequitous burden of tax compliance for SMEs. However that was the time for manual returns. Tavleen has raises the cause for oitential Wealth tax return fillers. Had DTC come up by now, one could hv had a unified return for income and wealth. Certainly, WT return filing module should also develop. However the income bracket they represent can certainly meet the professional costs, in a country, where professinals hardly are adequately compensated. Question is how many of them are ready to pay their WT dues?
