Channing Tatum sticks up for Jonah Hill over ‘faggot’ slur Hollywood actor Tatum has commended his co-star Hill for his apology, saying Hill is in no way homophobic 07 JUNE 2014 | BY LIAM JOHNSON Hollywood actor Channing Tatum has defended his co-star Jonah Hill over his use of the homophobic slur ‘faggot.’ Tatum said Hill is not homophobic at all, and his use of the term is not really a reflection of who he is. ‘I think most of the time when people have to go on and sort of apologize for something it might not come off all that well because its not actually like what they mean,’ he said. ‘I can honestly say that is not who he is. It came off well and he did it well because he really means it, that wasn’t who he was that day,’ Tatum told an Extra reporter. Tatum, best known for his role as a male stripper in movie Magic Mike, is currently promoting new movie 22 Jump Street alongside co-star Hill. The movie has been somewhat overshadowed since Hill was caught on tape yelling the homophobic insult at paparazzi photographer. Hill was being pursued and taunted by the paparazzi in Los Angeles when he yelled: ‘Suck my dick, you faggot.’ Hill, who earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor for movie The Wolf of Wall Street, then appeared on The Tonight Show on 3 June to publicly apologize. ‘Ive been a supporter of the LGBT community my entire life and I completely let the members of that community and everybody else down when I used a word like that. Im genuinely and deeply sorry to anyone who has ever been affected by that term in their life,’ he said. I dont deserve or expect your forgiveness, but what I ask is that at home, if youre watching this, and youre a young person especially; if someone says something that hurts you or angers you, use me as an example of what not to do, and dont respond with hatred or anger.
