Check our our session coming up at NOAH 2014 Conference: The Imaginary Albino: Making Radio – Changing the World. Lisa Hale & I will be talking about taking albinism back from Hollywood and making our own representations. Last year, we made a radio documentary, aired around the world, to challenge the “evil albino” stereotypes and the killings in Africa. It’s won three major awards and been used to support Under the Same Suns action at the UN. But in making radio, I also made peace with my own albinism alienation and denial. We met a community of brave fighters like Jayne Waithera, Vidushi Kothari, Barbara Fischlowitz-Leong, Peter Ash, Shari Parker, Amadou Diallo, Joseph Godwin Rick Guidotti, Carrie Ring Lentz and many others from our community.
