Check out this amazing review of Joyce DiDonatos unforgettable PUC recital in the current issue of Opera News: The Princeton University Concerts series in the nonpareil, neo-Romanesque Richardson Auditorium, has bloomed since director Marna Seltzer came aboard in 2010. In healthy contradiction of current trends, a major vocal recital occurs yearly; David Daniels appeared last year, Princeton alum Anthony Roth Costanzo closes next season. Perhaps Luca Pisaroni will appear after that, since with Joyce DiDonatos megawatt outing March 27, Seltzer seems to be working her way through the Mets Enchanted Island original cast. Academic musical audiences can be tough in regards to modern singers — basically, older subscribers want to hear the (currently unavailable) Schwarzkopf, Fischer-Dieskau and Haefliger traverse traditional Lieder repertory — but DiDonato, who also gave students a master class the night before, came, saw and conquered all generations in the performance. operanews/Opera_News_Magazine/2014/6/Reviews/PRINCETON__Joyce_DiDonato.html
