Chetan Bhagat with young India. “I’m trying to get up for my next story,” he said in an interview in Hong Kong, where he is visiting for the city’s annual Book Fair. “Expectations keep on rising. I’m supposed to make up a story that pleases so many, but I’m trying to let those expectations slide out and live a normal life.”..Chetan Bhagat. His next book, a non-fiction collection titled “What Young India Wants,” comes out next month and compiles columns from his writing for the Times of India, as well as essays and speeches. Another one of his novels, “The Three Mistakes of My Life” is being adapted to film and is slated for release early next year. But he said he hasn’t yet begun work on a new novel yet. The former investment banker, who is based in Mumbai, spoke to the Journal about why “3 Idiots” was a hit in China, arguing with Salman Rushdie and what his next work of fiction might be about. booklandnoida/
