Chipolopolo arrive in France as Mwale returns to drill CHAN squad The contingent of Zambian stars from TP Mazembe and South Africa will hold their first training session Monday afternoon after arriving in the French capital for Wednesday’s international against Senegal. And assistant coach Masauso Mwale has been delegated to stay behind and take the local lads through training until Herve Renard and the rest of the CHAN squad players and technical staff return from France. FAZ spokesperson Erick Mwanza told fazfootball that following the postponement of the CHAN qualifier match on Sunday, FAZ decided that “assistant coach Masauso Mwale remains with the local development squad members who are not traveling to Paris.” “We have very limited time between the match in Paris and the qualifier against Zimbabwe on Sunday 18th August. The local league players who are not part of the team which will play against Senegal return home from Harare Monday evening. As they return, they need to keep working and preparing for the match this Sunday. We’ve sanctioned Herve’s proposition to have assistant coach Mwale stay behind to take the lads through the drills in Lusaka until the rest of the team returns from France,” Mwanza said adding that the Nkana coach has since arrived in Lusaka from Johannesburg. “This is very important because it will ensure that the local team maintains fitness and top form and is ready for the match on Sunday in Harare.” The CHAN qualifier between Zimbabwe and Zambia was postponed to 18th August due to non arrival of match officials. On Wednesday’s match, Mwanza said PSL based stars Davies Nkausu, Kennedy Mwene and Joseph Musonda joined the TP quarter of play-maker Rainford Kalaba, defence towers Stoppila Sunzu and Hichani Himonde and Nathan Sinkala on Monday morning. “Our head of delegation in Paris Mr Richard Kazala has confirmed that the boys are in good spirit and looking forward to the match. Emmanuel Mayuka and Fwayo Tembo are expected at the team hotel Monday afternoon with the rest of the squad members arriving Tuesday morning,” Mwanza said. Zambia takes on Senegal at 19:00hours Wednesday. VIA FAZ
