Chocolate Cake Recipe 4 c sugar 6 Tbsp. Cocoa 1 c butter 1 large can evaporated milk 1 Tbsp vanilla Combine sugar, cocoa, butter, and milk. Bring to rolling boil. Boil approx. 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add vanilla. 1.5 c sugar 1 c shortening or butter(I used butter) 4 eggs 3 c S R flour 2.25 c milk Combine ingredients in order listed. Use .5 c batter per layer. Bake at 400 - 425. My tips: Make icing first so it can be cooling. Choose your cake pans carefully. I prefer the darker ones. These layers are about like a pancake. I probably had to use a little more than .5 c batter to cover the pan. It is best to be able to ice the layers as the are removed from pan because handling them causes them to break. I may not have cooked some long enough to make them firm enough. The icing will, of course, thicken as it cools. I like it thin enough to soak into the cake a bit, but not run everywhere.
