Chris George via Paul Johnston There is no constitutional right - TopicsExpress

Chris George via Paul Johnston There is no constitutional right to affordable medicine? That pretty much sums up the Conservative view of society. Why not just start presenting newborn babies with a bill for food, shelter and the fact they exist? And allowing people to fend for themselves and reduce their dependency on government chosen enterprises might harm the chosen ones? That sounds rather fascist, but maybe that is just me. Because if this is not capitalism, and this is not a market, then that is exactly what it is. However, a lawyer representing Health Canada argued that there is no constitutional right to affordable medicine. The lawyer also argued that exempting patients from the ban on personal production would harm the new Licensed Producers, since they require a customer base to get established.
