Chronicling The Faith The Size of A Mustard Seed - The Peace Holders Peace Makers and Peace Holders are not the same. The cup of the Peace Holder requires the ability to swallow huge gulps of air. Pain Holders and Peace Holders can get along, but not when they are both on a mission. Peace Holders are willing to do whatever it takes to keep peace even if it means to cover up the truth, hide their own pain, and even lie to clear all things they believe could be found offensive to someone else. The Peace Holders main priority is to protect peace at all cost. A Peace Holder truly believes they are making peace, but they are not. And leave it to the Pain Holder to come along and expose them. Pain Holders are often town criers. They are holding so much pain that occasionally it spills over and they blame the Peace Holder for keeping the pain a secret. The Peace Holder wishes that the Pain Holder could just ignore the pain by keeping peace. This is close to impossible for the Pain Holder. They must cry out! They are in pain! The Peace Holder puts out fires constantly. They do it by servicing the impossible to others. And the moment they fail to notice something out of order and peace is disturbed, they immediately feel guilty and responsible for having not maintained total control. The Peace Holders live believing there is always something more they could have done or should have done and still can do. Peace Holders tell others what they want to hear rather than what is truth. They are the enablers. They fear rejection. Many Peace Holders look for ways to boost their strength. When Peace Holders become overwhelmed or fear discovery, they cut themselves off from others. They cannot bear watching their Temple of Peace fall to ashes. The Peace Holder has been so careful to layer their temples with brick separated by mortar. When the mortar becomes loosened over time and one brick meets the other brick, it crashes to the ground. The bricks themselves or in our human world, the people, had never made peace for themselves, it was an illusion built by the Peace Holder. Imagine how the Peace Holder must feel to build and rebuild again and again and again. What a heavy weight to carry! Peace Holders actually carry the unrest of others seeking to please those who cannot please themselves. Jesus said, Blessed are the Peace MAKERS, for they will be called children of God. - Matthew 5:9 I encourage anyone who is not familiar with the testimony of Queen Esther in the bible to read it. She has her own book ;) Esther was a Peace Maker. She brought peace between the King and the Jews. A Peace Maker has a difficult job. Esther, a Jew, an orphan adopted by her cousin, Mordecai, after her parents death, made her way into a kingdom whose king would place a signet ring on an order to kill all Jews based upon a lie from his commander that the Jews were stirring up trouble. It was through the kings marriage to Queen Esther that the truth was exposed about the commanders deceit and PEACE was brought for the Jews, her own people. Here is a glimpse of her story taken from Esther 4:7-17: Mordecai told him the whole story, including the exact amount of money Haman had promised to pay into the royal treasury for the destruction of the Jews. Mordecai gave Hathach a copy of the decree issued in Susa that called for the death of all Jews. He asked Hathach to show it to Esther and explain the situation to her. He also asked Hathach to direct her to go to the king to beg for mercy and plead for her people. So Hathach returned to Esther with Mordecai’s message. Then Esther told Hathach to go back and relay this message to Mordecai: “All the king’s officials and even the people in the provinces know that anyone who appears before the king in his inner court without being invited is doomed to die unless the king holds out his gold scepter. And the king has not called for me to come to him for thirty days.” So Hathacha gave Esther’s message to Mordecai. Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him. The commander and his family paid a heavy price. I wont tell you how if you havent read the Book of Esther. No spoiler here! :) Thankfully, she was willing to be obedient to God and trust Him to be the Peace Holder and the Peace Maker! She knew she wasnt qualified to be a Peace Holder. Being a Peace Maker is a personal responsibility for each of us. Only God can provide peace to a whole nation. Only Jesus can hold all of our unrest, sorrow, anger, strife, and confusion. And He is willing! Trusting Him to hold all of our stuff allows us to be what He created us to be, Peace Makers! I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So dont be troubled or afraid. - Jesus in John 14:27(NLT) __________________________________________________________ Prayer Request for Dad: The radiation treatment is hitting him hard. He continues to be weak and is not eating very well so nutrition and dehydration continue to be a problem. Dad is also experiencing a loss of vision. It is very blurry. Please continue to pray for clarity for him and Mom! God is able to go places that some of us cannot no matter how painful it is for us to watch. I am trusting in the Lord and believing He is enough!
