Citing his desire to provide a world class public education for Kanawha County students, Charleston Attorney Ryan White today filed his papers to run for a seat on the Kanawha County School Board. With his wife Kate and two children Jackson and Cameron at his side, White said, “According to the 2012 West Virginia Kids Count Data Book Kanawha County had the highest percentage of high school drop outs in the state while ranking 48th out of 55 counties in West Virginia in the percentage of four year olds enrolled in pre-kindergarten. As the most populous and wealthy county in West Virginia, we simply can and must do better.” “We need to reduce bureaucracy and paperwork and empower our school professionals to teach and our students to learn,” added White. “We must reduce class size and rebuild the crumbling infrastructure of our schools while imposing fiscal discipline throughout the Kanawha County Schools operation. No taxpayer in Kanawha County should be satisfied with the status quo.” In addition to filing to run for the school board Mr. White also released the names of his campaign committee.
