Cogitation 2015, Jos North-North in Perspective In just few weeks to come, various political parties will be conducting their primaries to select candidates that would represent them at the general elections. It is usually a party affair in compliance with their set policies and procedures under the guidelines of the partys constitution. The Jos North-North State Constituency of Plateau State is the largest in terms of population. With just the votes of Anguwan Rogo and Rikkos, many were elected Senators from various states.A mixture of the hardcore Hausa/Fulani community and minority ethnic nationalities. The contest for the 2015 election will be competitive & intense. This is as a result of speculation that the Jos North Local Govt would produce the next Speaker of the State Assembly. There are strong contenders who have already swung to action and consultation. So far, the Anguwan Rogo/Rimi axis are leading with the parade of about three to four candidates. There is the ever popular Hon Sadis A S Muhammed. Hon Sadis made an attempt for the office in 2011 under the PSP banner but was prevailed upon to comply with the rules of our Council. Hon Sadis certainly enjoys the elitist support and will have to garner the support of the commoners to succeed in his second attempt. Hon Abubakar Dogara is another popular candidate. The young and articulate former Councillor enjoys massive support amongst the youths. He would be making his second attempt for the seat. Hon Dogara contested in 2011 under the banner of the then ANPP but miraculously withdrew from the race. Whatever the obstacles were, the youths are praying to overcome the hurdle. Hon Huseini Maishafi is back again. He is said to be enjoying the full backing of a money-bag politician. Will they reach the eldorado? Away from the Anguwan Rogo/Rimi axis are another set of politicians. Barrister Aminu Umar is also making his second attempt. He contested in 2011 under the CPC platform. Will he succeed this time around? Another young politician making the rounds is Alhaji Bashir Kawu Dangote. He is young, urbane, articulate and generous. He is being referred to as the Khalifa. Will his mission succeed? Only time can tell. Hon Ateeku Abubakar Jos. Hon Ateeku is certainly a go-getter, a suave politician, and a shrewd strategist. Although he has not made his intention public, his name has been bandied around in the possible succession bid. Hon Ateeku will need to mend fences with his immediate community and the neighboring Anguwan Rogo to accomplish his mission. As the call for Anguwan Rogo/Rimi axis to produce the next member is being amplified on a daily basis, lets hope and pray for a credible leader. The onerous task of representing the people, is a charge to keep
