Come join us Sunday 01/05/14 we hold a funeral for our inner reef system and all the fish and corals that will smother under the weight of the freshly dumped sand. Lauderdale by the Sea will soon start dumping sand on our local beach. This sand will find its way into the ocean and will smother out habitat for our juvenile species of fish and the corals and sponges. We want to draw attention to this terrible event by protesting. Our protest will be in the form of a funeral, complete with Grim Reaper and picket signs. We will all wear black and be extremely sad and remorseful and just put on a spectacle in general. I would like to have this funeral in a place that has the dump trucks present and/or in Lauderdale by the Sea North end of El Mar Drive and we can walk down El Mar Dr. through Lauderdale by the Sea. How you can help, 1. Show up. 2. Wear black. 3. Make signs that spell out the dangers of an ocean without a reef. 4. Contact your local press and ask them to cover the event. 5. Can you build a small light weight coffin we could carry in a procession? 6. Will you get a Grim Reaper Costumer and follow us around? 7. Dead fish, can you make fake dead stuff like fish and lobsters to carry and display at the wake? 8. Can you create and print flyers on this terrible loss. 9. Can you speak from an educated voice to the people we encounter or the press? 10. Can you take photos or videos and post them on social networking sites? We will then follow up and hold an Irish Style Wake at the local pub where we will talk to anyone who will listen about the loss of habitat (and drink our loss away).
