Commercial section of the Court of Appeals awards disabled expat KD 115,000 damages in accident The Commercial Section of the Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Haitham Al-Ateeqi, has instructed an insurance company to pay KD 100,000 to an expatriate and KD 5,000 to his wife. The court also ordered the company to pay KD 2,000 compensation to the mother of the expatriate for causing damages to her car, in addition to KD 5,000 compensation for the father and KD 3,000 for his three brothers. The compensations were due to the man’s involvement in a traffic accident that caused him 100 percent permanent disability. The Attorney for the plaintiff, asked the court to order compensation worth KD 115,000 to his client due to physical injuries, as well as material and moral losses. He also demanded payment of KD 350 monthly salary for life to his client right from date of the accident. He declared the defendant caused injuries to his client and damaged his car in a traffic accident, while the police registered the case at Salwa Police Station. He said the court found the woman guilty in the final judgment, so the company should bear the cost since the insurance covers the accident. He added the medical report confirmed that the accident affected the skull of his client leading to brain damage, which left him useless and unable to carry out physical activities.
