Commitment is like jumping off the roof of a house. Once you take - TopicsExpress

Commitment is like jumping off the roof of a house. Once you take the jump, there is no way of going back up; there is no way of undoing the act, you must follow through until you reach your destination, until you have achieved your goals. In 1519, Hernando Cortez, a Spanish soldier, landed in Mexico on the shores of the Yucatan, with only one objective…seize the great treasures known to be there but hoarded by the Aztecs. Cortez was an excellent motivator, he had convinced more than 500 soldiers and 100 sailors to set sail from Spain to Mexico, commanding 11 ships, to take the world’s then richest treasure. The historic question is “how did a small band of Spanish soldiers arrive in a strange country and swiftly brought about the overthrow of a large and powerful empire that was in power for over six centuries?” For Cortez, the answer was easy. It was all or nothing! Complete and Total Commitment. He took away the option of retreat. It was conquer and be heroes, enjoying the spoils of victory…or DIE! When Cortez and his men arrived on the shores of the Yucatan he rallied the men for one final pep talk before leading them into battle. At the end of his talk he gave a strange command – “Burn the Ships!” The men were reluctant. A cry of discouragement rose up. But Cortez knew that all he needed was commitment. He changed his tone, “burn the ships, if we must leave this island we will leave in their ships, or we die!” Burn the Ships. These three words changed the course of history. In these changing times, if there is anything we need more than all others, it is this: COMMITMENT. It is our unchanging principle. Going back is no longer an option. The only option available is success. Now let’s go for it. Note: Please click on this link and like my pix, I need your vote thanks. goo.gl/y18kjU Paago Aleele Imabel
