Communications Coordinator University of Cape Town - Cape Town, Western Cape Properties and Services Department Communications coordinator ( Payclass 11) We invite applications for the above permanent post for appointment as soon as possible. Reporting to the executive director, the communications coordinator will assist in the development of a communications strategy for properties and services within the larger University of Cape Town context; be responsible for the implementation of such strategy and coordinate key marketing initiatives arising out of such strategy. Properties and services is the university’s facilities management arm responsible for design, building, operation and maintenance of physical infrastructure and services such as transport, traffic, and security and so forth ( uct.ac.za/services/properties/ ). Responsibilities include: Manage all departmental communication Provide policy advice to the executive director on communications strategy, branding and opportunities Maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders, stakeholder groupings and third parties Assist risk services with crime awareness campaigns Manage external media queries Work with directorates, project and maintenance managers to ensure compliance with brand across all mediums and communication channels. Key requirements include: A relevant tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6/7), preferably at Bachelor’s degree level with appropriate experience, i.e. journalism, communications or marketing. At least five years appropriate experience after graduation of which two years was practical experience. Outstanding English written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to research, write, edit and proof print and electronic media. An ability to develop, nurture and manage positive working relationships delivering excellent client service to both internal and external clients. Ability to handle sensitive information and incorporate sound and rational judgment when resolving crises and issues. Self-motivated with proven ability to problem solve and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is between R426,312 and R501,531 per annum.
