Community Event coming soon: On Feb. 4th, 2015, at 7:00pm, Canyon Creek Womens Crisis Center will host a one-night only event at the Cedar High School, and Canyon View High School basketball games at their respective gymnasiums. Last year this event proved to be a great success as students rallied around the cause of healthy relationships. On the high school campuses, the week of the basketball games, the students participated in the signing of a pledge banner during lunch. The students “pledged to respect” themselves and others by signing the banner. This tradition will occur again this year in preparation for the big game, promoting healthy relationships and raising awareness of teen dating violence. This special event helps students recognize and prevent the risks associated with teen dating violence, as well as celebrates the promotion of healthy relationships. The basketball players will be wearing purple socks to celebrate healthy relationships, and promotional items will be distributed to attendees of the games. This is a great way for the educational community, as well as the community in Cedar City to show support of this cause. This event is hosted and coordinated by Canyon Creek Womens Crisis Center, as well as students Bailey Potter of Canyon View High School and Court Einfeldt of Cedar High School.
