They work closely with the Captain and the Engineers while handling lines. Housekeeping and laundry incorporate a majority of their day, dishes and bartending are also part of their daily routine. Deckhands work independently for a majority of their shifts. A good work ethic, excellent communication skills, ability to manage their daily routine and enjoying the outdoors is required. Must also hold the Smart Serve certification. Season: All jobs from April 28 to October 16. An employment contract is to be signed. Rotation: Most cruises are for 5 day duration. All crew rotate working 2 cruises on and 1 cruise off, which means normal rotation is 10+ days on and 4+ days off (reporting for duty by 2:30 pm at the ship on the fifth day). Transportation: Our van transports crew going on and off rotation between Orillia and the ship, whether it is Ottawa, Kingston, Peterborough or Big Chute. Hours: Each cruise (5 days) includes 49 hours work time-tabled according to the ships routine. Pay: Rate of Pay $11.50 per hour (no deduction for room and board or uniform) Room: Crew live aboard ship and share a 3 berth cabin.
