“Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it - TopicsExpress

“Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability, it is essential for human survival.” Dalai-Lama I am reading a book written by Karen Armstrong called the “Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life” (Armstrong is a British author and commentator known for her books on comparative religion. A former Roman Catholic religious sister, she went from a conservative to a more liberal and mystical Christian faith.) I thought that some of my FB friends might be interested in checking it out... Reminds us that compassion transcends religious, ideological and political differences. Something that we sometimes need to be reminded of! She calls on us to seek compassion over all things because the principle of compassion lies at the heart of all religions, ethical and spiritual traditions. Compassion calls us to treat others as we wish to be treated ourselves. She says, “compassion impels us to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of our fellow creatures, dethrone ourselves from the center of our world and put another there, and to honor the inviolable sanctity of every single human being, treating everybody, without exception, with absolute justice, equity and respect.
