There is one particular food which sustained everyone in Zimbabwe mainly school children and working class people during lunch time. This is a dish that l have decided to post here. I remember back in the day going to the shops to wait in a queue to buy these fresh ma buns. When l started working based at UZ School of Medical School, l and my colleagues would feast on the hot fresh buns that were baked at the cafeteria and add butter on them, oh my it was just so Yummiliciious mhani, lunch time again you would find someone eating ma buns again. No one would get fed up of mabuns. When l left UZ for CABS, I found out that it was still the same trendy, the messengers will be asked to go and buy hot fresh mabuns and fresh chips and some ate them with polony and then you will be having a bottle of cold fanta, cherry plum, cream soda, coke and etc. Missed mabuns big time when l came to England, but thank God that due to the baking and cooking group, I got the recipe of ma buns. Anytime l feel like mabuns l just go into the kitchen and make them. Thanks to Sifiso Mari who shared the mabuns recipe. Who can say no to mabuns?. I can say no to rice and chicken but not mabuns, hayi. I hope they are a lot like me on this page who knows the history of mabuns from our Beloved Country.
