Concerned Constituent (Grandparent, Educator & Voter): There has been much discussion regarding whether or not current boe members on a talk show agreed with the comments of the host who used the term politically naive soccer moms, and cited them as a problem for incumbents/reformers in this election. I heard the show live and believe they did. BUT, perhaps, instead of analyzing what Benevento, Silverthorne and Reynolds DID say, we should consider what they did NOT say. Not one of the three spoke up to say, No, you are wrong. The moms in our district are bright, informed and prepared to cast intelligent votes in the best interests of their children. Nor did they say, Hey, no way are our moms naive or ignorant. Good leadership requires the courage to confront inaccurate stereotypes, even when it might not be easy or politically expedient. When candidates ask for our votes, they are asking to represent us. ALL of us, Where was our representation that day?
