Conflict in Our Relationships In your anger do not sin: do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold Ephesians 4:26-27 Conflicts in our relationships are unavoidable. Regardless of the care and effort made, as long as there is life, there will be conflicts. There are no perfect relationships because there are no perfect people. Conflicts are caused by differences (in beliefs, approach, opinions, etc.) and often involves anger. Although anger is an acceptable emotion, if not managed properly, it can destroy our relationships. Some of us run at the first sign of conflict, but when you truly value a relationship, you will learn to effectively deal with conflict. You could be missing out on a great friendship or future spouse by avoiding or failing to deal with conflict. Not all conflicts are bad. In fact, conflict is a necessary part of problem solving and a means to bring about needed change. If handled correctly, conflicts can provide opportunities to strengthen our relationships. It is unaddressed and unresolved conflicts that are bad. When dealing with conflict, focus on the present and forget the past. It is also important to maintain mutual respect. Once respect is lost, its very easy for issues to escalate. Prayerfully seek Gods wisdom and godly counsel as necessary in dealing with conflicts. God is concerned about all aspects of our life, including our relationships. Dont be shy to sincerely use those two powerful words - Im sorry. Pastor Donnie Persaud ESP Worship Centre
