Congrats to SNJGA participant Sam Dickey, who has committed to play at the University of New Mexico when he graduates in 2016! Press release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEJuly 7, 2014Dickey (No. 40, 2016) Commits to New MexicoSam Dickey has announced that he has verbally committed to play collegiate golf at the University of New Mexico. Dickey is the 40th ranked junior golfer in the 2016 high school graduating class, according to current Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings.“I was fortunate to be recruited by a lot of great schools,” said Dickey, a rising junior at Las Vegas’ Arbor View High School. “I am convinced that New Mexico is the perfect fit for me. The Lobo’s coaches, golf facilities, tournament schedule, strength training and academics are everything I was looking for in a college and more. I look forward to helping Coach Millican and Coach Garren bring a national championship to New Mexico.”Dickey made unofficial visits to over a dozen schools, including UNLV, Oklahoma State, SMU, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, UCLA, and South Carolina.Dickey is a past champion of the Texas-Oklahoma Junior, the Western States Players Cup, and over 50 local tournaments in Nevada and Oklahoma. Dickey has garnered six top-20 finishes in AJGA competition, including this year’s ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior (8th) and the Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic (T-17th). Dickey has also placed second in the Pepsi Little Peoples Golf Championship and the Odyssey World Junior Golf Championship, and twice placed in the top 15 in the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships.
