Help for the Homeless, Christchurch Well we hit the street tonight with hot spag bog, fresh bread, drinks and bakery stuff. Also gifted more thermals, socks, gloves, beanies and bedding. Very sombre crowd of locals however, many had been taken into custody for associating with each other!! Wow like really??!! Its apparent that many have been served with a non association order to each other. Great so not only are they sleeping rough on the cold streets of Christchurch but now theyre expected to do it ALONE!! Seriously does my head in these locals have been kicked to the ground, left out in the cold, forgotten about and now facing court charges for being with the only people who have kept them sane and safe! Unfortunately they could also be facing trespassing charges too as they were huddled together in an abandon building! Im not stupid and do realise they were breaking the law BUT who on earth would want to be out and about and exposed in this weather. WE seriously need housing options for our locals, it seem to be such a predicament theyre in now. They are getting police records which make getting a job pretty hard, which make getting money for a flat REALLY HARD!! Surely we can figure something better out than continuously kicking them while theyre down and out?? To make things worse one of our older ones has been to court 4 times in 3 days for association order breach!! Here I was thinking there was real crime going on in our city?? So imagine not being allowed to associate with someone who you regard as a brother or sister.
