Consider the possibility that the awakening of personal power reveals that responsibility has nothing to do with obligation and everything to do with awareness and creativity. Consider also that response ability requires a falling away of our ignorance, a choice to illuminate what we may once have preferred to keep ourselves in the dark about. Consider that some do not have the same luxury (and burden) of ignorance. Consider that if you have been centralized in various defining narratives of the dominant culture, by definition this fact will be invisible to you in those domains until you become curious about and willing to see and explore your own givens, and consider that this privilege of centrality while bestowing all kinds of relative social advantage has also trapped you in a spiritually disempowered relation to the other, to nature, to self, and to life. No doubt the dissolution of ignorance is uncomfortable, and asks us to grow capacities weve likely neglected such as empathy and emotional intelligence, asks us to be willing to learn how to presence shame and grief in ourselves. Consider though that, rather than burden, turning toward greater awareness in this way might be the opportunity of lifetimes and a path of greatness and joy.
