Corlears Alumni Out in the World! Mei Bock and Lila Kempler (both from the class of 2013) were in Seravalli Playground this past spring selling cupcakes to raise money to help giant pandas, which are endangered because of loss of habitat. The girls traveled to China this summer and visited the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center, a panda reserve that protects pandas and has created an environment that is well suited to breeding and rearing healthy pandas. There are only 1000 pandas left in China, and the Center is working hard to protect these beloved animals. Mei and Lila baked and decorated the cupcakes with adorable panda faces and sold them to passersby near the playground. They raised over $300 and donated the proceeds to the Center, which allowed them to get really close to the pandas! Check out Lilas video feeding an adorable panda. Good work girls!
