Couple things I like about this video: I like the public - TopicsExpress

Couple things I like about this video: I like the public questioning the officers on their use of force in this circumstance, considering they didnt understand. I like that this officer took the time to explain himself in a kind patient manner considering the crowd heckling him. I like how the officer encouraged and was in fact not discouraged by the videos being taken of the event. The thing I didnt like about this video: I didnt like the camera man heckling the cop on his use of force on a thrashing girl solely because she is a girl as if a small girl cant be dangerous and difficult to restrain. I think this video has great things to pull from on public and police interaction. Accountability should be challenged by the public, and we need to be able to trust authorities for protection but not fear them. First step is to stop the fear, act within your rights and voice concerns as needed, maintain a fear on their part that they will be held accountable. My little thoughts on the matter. But how often are we confronted with an opportunity such as this to speak up our opinions? I hope that if I face such an interaction I will speak up if I feel something isnt right, not under my breath but out loud. We should be taught and encouraged in this confidence to gain control over this overbearing system.
