Court of Appeal acquits Bacho Ahkhalaia, jails two other defendants. The Court of Appeal has partially satisfied the prosecutors suit against Bacho Akhalaia and 8 people charged together with him. Namely, the court delivered guilty verdicts against two out of the 8 defendants. The Court of Appeal acquitted Bacho Akhalaia, but two other defendants – Alexandre Gorgadze and Zurab Shamatava – were arrested in the courtroom by the court’s decision. Shamatava said after the detention that he ‘serves Georgia though hence from jail’. Alexandre Gorgadze and Zurab Shamatava were sentenced to jail for 3 years and 9 months. As for other defendants, all of them were acquitted by the decision of the Court of Appeal.
