Cross Strait Services and Trade Agreement Director-General V. C. Chu Director-General, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Honolulu (TECO) Tuesday, April 8, 2014 12:00 noon John A. Burns Hall, Room 3012 For this roundtable discussion, Director General V. C. Chu will discuss the importance of the recently negotiated Taiwan-China Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement (海峽兩岸服務貿易協議). While supporters of the Agreement see it as necessary to preserve Taiwans economic vitality, opponents have staged large demonstrations and successfully occupied the Taiwan legislature. Please join us in the discussion of this landmark agreement As the director of TECO in Honolulu, Mr. V.C. Chu is responsible for enhancing Taiwan’s bilateral economic, cultural, education and tourism ties with Hawaii and American Samoa. His office also provides consular service and serves the interests of overseas compatriots living and visiting in Hawaii. Mr. Chu holds a master’s degree in International Business from National Chengchi University, Taipei, Taiwan and has been with the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) for over 30 years.
