Crowd-sourcing seems to be all the rage these days. In his book ape, Guy Kawasaki writes about using it to generate material for your book, and he has also presented on the topic. I would argue, however, that it’s a difficult thing to do well. Yes, you can ostensibly get free research (which could be incredibly helpful), but you also open up your creative process—already a vulnerable and sensitive thing for most writers—to complete strangers.
