Curious about how to put your Jamberries on? Heres some helpful information: By the way: You *dont* need the Jamberry application kit! You can order wraps and apply them with things you have around your house. :) The application kit can be fun and pretty to have, and there are some tools that are nice, but you dont NEED it. After 6 months of trying various application methods, heres my go-to, flawless manicure procedure: 1. **PREP** - remove anything from your nails - previous paint, Jams, etc. Use nail polish remover. - many ladies actually have extra cuticle. It can creep up your nail and be nearly invisible, but complicate wraps staying on your nails. I use a drop of gel cuticle remover (about $3 at my grocery store) on each nail, let sit for 10 seconds, and then wash as I press my cuticles back. After I get the gel off, I proceed into the next step: - clean your nails! I use blue Dawn dish soap. Ive found this is the best for removing oils from my nails. In fact, if youre going to just paint your nails, blue Dawn is a helpful step for cleanest nails and a blank canvas. 2. **FIT your WRAPS** - Fit each wrap to your nail. Dont let it touch your cuticle or the skin on the sides of your nail. So technically, the wrap is JUST a teeny bit smaller than your actual nail. I can get my wrap pretty close to the edges without touching for a good fit. Leave a little tiny extra hanging off the tip of your nail - youll trim later. If this is your first application or especially if youre applying French-style wraps, make a template: - Template: place scotch tape on your nail. Trace your nail onto the tape with a pen. Use the tape template to trim your wrap. Do NOT trim the tip of your nail - remove the scotch tape and apply to your nail. Youll trim the tip later. Leave a tiny bit hanging off the tip of your nail. 3. **APPLY** - place the fitted wrap on your nail. -smooth into place with an orange stick (or a purple rubber Jamberry stick) - heat: hold nail right in front of hair dryer on medium heat for about 10 seconds (or as long as you can stand) - press wrap firmly with orange stick/Jamberry stick. Smooth from center outward, especially focusing on the edge of the wrap. Smooth from cuticle up towards tip, and smooth across tip. Apply firm, firm pressure. -wrap nail tightly in small sandwich baggie/ziploc baggie, heat again, as long as you can stand (approx 8-10 seconds) -smooth again with stick. Focus on edges of wrap, get a good smooth seal. Press out any bubbles. I have *very* curvy nails and get many bubbles, but can smooth them out when the wrap is warm for a good seal. -let cool - move on to other nails. 4. **TRIM** -using sharp fingernail clippers, trim the cooled tip of your wrap and your nail. I usually trim just a hairline amount of fingernail off, but make sure you get a little nail with the wrap. The clippers press the wrap into the tip of your nail, and a good smooth trim will help keep your wrap from peeling. Take this opportunity to get your nail to the preferred length and shape. Ta-daaaa! You should have a smooth, even application that will last you over a week. If you have any bubbling or peeling wraps, re-heat and press again to ensure a smooth stick. :)
