Napier organized the Citizens Bank, the first Black-owned bank in Tennessee. Pvt. Milton L. Olive, III was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor on this date in 1966. This award was for his exemplary services in Vietnam. Lee Elder won the Monsanto Open, becoming the first Black pro golfer to qualify for the Masters Golf Championship on this date in 1974.
