DAILY STIR 9-3-13 “HOW TO GET THE DEVIL TO LEAVE” Speaking of Jesus in Matthew 4:11 it says, “Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.” This is after Jesus was tempted by the devil but withstood him by quoting the Word of God, the truth, the Will of God. Every time the devil tempted Him, He just said it is written and quoted God, by quoting His Word. The thing that excites me more than anything in this passage of scripture is that you and I can do the same thing Jesus did. We can resist the devil by staying submitted to God. You stay submitted to God by staying submitted to His Word. James 4:7 says, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Notice it also says at the end of Matthew 4:11 that the angels came and ministered to Jesus. I want you to see that they didn’t just come to Jesus because He was God’s son. They came to Jesus because He gave voice to the Word of God. Psalm 103:20 says, “Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.” The New American Standard Bible says, “Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word!” Hebrews 1:14 says, “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” The angels came to Jesus in response to the word of God He spoke and they will come minister on your behalf if you will quote the Word of God. If you have been born again you are a child of God and a joint heir with Jesus Christ. You are an heir of salvation. Romans 8:17 says, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” In Daniel 10 we see Daniel, which didn’t have all that we have under the New Covenant. He didn’t have the name of Jesus, he didn’t have the Holy Spirit abiding inside him, and he didn’t have the revelation of the New Testament. Yet He spoke the Word of God that he did have and caused angels to come. Daniel speaking of the angel in Daniel 10:11-12 says, “And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling. 12 Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.” I resist every temptation by staying submitted to and by speaking God’s Word.
