DAMN IT, JANET! Janet Weiss, mother of our Rocky Horror Picture Show puppies, is in the ER NOW having to undergo emergency surgery! Janet was found on the street, hugely pregnant, with a red leash dragging from her neck. Her former owners never came for her or the babies at the shelter and instead left her there for almost 2 months before we got her from the shelter. Janet has been sick, infection from lack of pre and post natal care. We have been trying antibiotics in order to get her healthier before her spay. (Her babies are also sick and going through their third medication for their bacterial and viral infections.) Unfortunately, Janet was not getting better and we were advised to do a spay yesterday. Fortunately, she had a vigilant foster mum who noticed she was in distress tonight and she was rushed to the vet. You can see the obvious visual difference in the pictures of her spay site. Now Janet is in the ER from complications. She is bleeding internally from a broken blood vessels under the skin. She is filling up with blood under the skin and now needs emergency surgery to cauterize the blood vessels.
