DAY 10 - WRAPPED UP IN WHAT? Anna, a prophet, was also there in the Temple. She was the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, and she was very old. She was a widow, for husband had died when they had been married for only seven years. She was now 84 years old. She never left the Temple but stayed their day and night worshiping God fasting and prayer. (Luke 2:36-37 NLT) Here is someone who lived her life in context. It said that she never left the Temple, but stayed there day and night worshiping God. What did she receive for this kind of faithfulness? She got to see Jesus. His parents had just brought him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. When she saw him she began praising God and talked about Jesus to everyone who had been waiting for the promised King to come and deliver Jerusalem. There are only two people who seem to recognize Jesus when Mary and Joseph brought Him to the Temple; first was Simeon, and next was Anna. Now I’m sure there were priests and Levites and other members of the congregation there, but only these two saw Jesus for who He was. Anna saw Him and recognized Him because she had spent the greater part of her 84 years being wrapped up in the presence of the God of Israel, not being wrapped up in ritual. Can you look past the ritual and recognize Jesus? Read Luke 2:25-40
