DAY 7: Pray4Niger & Pray4Kyrgyzstan NIGER, WEST AFRICA According to a study by the Ministry of Public Health, 75 percent of girls are married by the time they turn 18. Many parents give their children away in marriage because they are following Islam. A Muslim housewife says, “Marriage holds an important place in our lives. It is unacceptable for Muslim daughters to have no husband after puberty.” Some Muslims disagree and say the real reason for child marriage is poverty and lack of knowledge. Pray for an end to child marriage in Niger. Ask the Lord to physically and emotionally protect the young brides. Pray for parents to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (The Bible, Romans 6:23). KYRGYZSTAN, CENTRAL ASIA Authorities arrested members of the Islamic extremist group Hizb-ut Tahrir in Osh Province. Three of the detainees are young, female students at respected schools. Another is the director of a popular television program, while one member is a cameraman for a local television station. Police arrested members of the group because they promoted “extremist ideas” over the Internet. Praise God for the arrest of the terrorist group members. Pray that Islamic extremism will not take hold in Kyrgyzstan. Pray for Christian Believers to advance the Gospel throughout Kyrgyzstan (The Bible, Acts 4:12).
