DC acknowledges benefits of social transfer Zambezi District Commissioner Catharine Mukuma has disclosed that Zambezi is the only district benefitting from the social transfer which has helped to reduce extreme poverty amongst the vulnerable children in the district. Ms Mukuma said the exercise which stated with 23 communities in Zambezi district has now been rolled out to other areas which were not reached in the district. She also disclosed that the youths groups have received funding from the youth empowerment fund. Ms Mukuma was speaking during the meeting of the Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Ambassador Peter Kasanda and civil servants in Zambezi yesterday. Meanwhile, Ms Mukuma said through Constituency Development Fund (CDF), a number of projects have been carried out in the district. She cited the water reticulation system in the chiefdom of Senior chief Ndungu and his counterpart Senior chief Ishindi as some of the projects that have been carried out under the CDF. Ms Mukuma said the district also managed to maintain Chinyingi Bridge which was in a bad state amongst others.
