DEFECTIONS AND HONOR....DO WE REALLY HAVE HONOR? The devil beans said it is still bearing fruits as a gesture of its love for humanity because the previous ones it bore were never patronized.I am sick of the news coming out of Nigeria that I am almost at my wits end.Nigeria is in this sorry state because of our collective ignorance. Section 68 of the constitution clearly defined the fate of a Legislator who defects from one political party to another.Ordinarily,if we were living in a sane clime,any defecting Legislator will honorably relinquish his position and go into a bye-election in his/her new choice of political party.What are our legislators afraid of? If you believe you are the choice of your constituents,why dont you do the honorable thing by resigning and contesting again? We should learn to separate our partisan instincts for the general good of our country. Both the PDP and the APC are to blame in this denigration of our judicial process,though the parties that morphed into the APC have been the greatest beneficiary of our judicial process.What I cannot fathom in all these theater of the absurd is why a beneficiary of a judicial process in the past will turn around to castigate that same process if it is not in its favor.Until we learn to obey Court orders in Nigeria and strengthen our institutions,we should brace up for more harrowing experience in the future.
