Daily Devotion by Raul Ries MONDAY May 19, 2014 No Fear 1 Samuel 7:7 Now when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel had gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard of it, they were afraid of the Philistines. Notice the fear the Philistines had for the Lord. When the people gathered to repent before the Lord, the enemy knew they were in trouble, so they came in to stop the work of the Lord. Isn’t that what happens to you and I? The enemy comes in when we are focused on the Lord and doing what He has called us to do. It is the same for the new believer. When you repent and try to get right with God; Satan attacks. When you are compromising, he could care less. You are no threat to him and his plans. Look at how the children of Israel reacted to the news of the Philistines coming. They were afraid. Can you believe it? They had already forgotten how God had delivered them and brought home the Ark. He was their protection, but still they feared the Philistines. God has done so much in my life and I know He has done a tremendous work in each one of your lives, individually. When the enemy comes against you, do you trust in the Lord or do you react in fear? Do you forget all the Lord has done and fear the situation you are in? How can we forget when God has done so much? We get our eyes off the Lord and on the problem. We forget He is greater than any trial or situation. Trust in Him and you will have no need to fear anything. Fear is of the flesh and panic is of the devil. ~A. W. Tozer~
