Daily Text Monday, August 18 They would not . . . worship any god at all except their own God.—Dan. 3:28. In the seventh century B.C.E., three Hebrew servants of Jehovah were given clear evidence that God rewards faith and courage. King Nebuchadnezzar assembled Babylon’s dignitaries and demanded that they worship a towering image of gold. Any who would not do so were to die in a fiery furnace. The three Hebrews respectfully told Nebuchadnezzar: “Our God whom we are serving is able to rescue us. Out of the burning fiery furnace and out of your hand, O king, he will rescue us. But if not, let it become known to you, O king, that your gods are not the ones we are serving, and the image of gold that you have set up we will not worship.” (Dan. 3:16-18) The thrilling rescue of the three Hebrews is vividly described at Daniel 3:19-30. Magalang na sinabi ng tatlong Hebreo kay Nabucodonosor: “Maililigtas kami ng aming Diyos na pinaglilingkuran namin. Mula sa nagniningas na maapoy na hurno at mula sa iyong kamay, O hari, ay ililigtas niya kami. Ngunit kung hindi, talastasin mo, O hari, na hindi ang iyong mga diyos ang paglilingkuran namin, at ang imaheng ginto na itinayo mo ay hindi namin sasambahin.” (Dan. 3:16-18) Inilalarawan sa Daniel 3:19-30 ang kamangha-manghang pagliligtas ni Jehova sa tatlong Hebreo na ito. Malamang na hindi naman tayo pagbabantaan ng parusang kamatayan sa isang maapoy na hurno. Au VIIe siècle av. n. è., trois serviteurs de Jéhovah ont eu la preuve indéniable qu’il récompense la foi et le courage. Le roi Neboukadnetsar avait réuni les hauts fonctionnaires de Babylone et exigé qu’ils adorent une immense image d’or. Quiconque s’y refuserait serait jeté dans un feu ardent. Avec respect, les trois Hébreux ont dit au roi : « Notre Dieu que nous servons est capable de nous sauver. Il nous sauvera du four de feu ardent et de ta main, ô roi ! Sinon, qu’il te soit fait connaître, ô roi, que tes dieux ne sont pas ceux que nous servons, et l’image d’or que tu as dressée, nous ne l’adorerons pas » (Dan. 3:16-18). La délivrance miraculeuse des trois hommes est rapportée en Daniel 3:19-30. Même s’il est peu probable que nous subissions la même menace, notre intégrité est la cible d’attaques. El rey Nabucodonosor reunió a los funcionarios de Babilonia y les ordenó que adoraran una imponente imagen de oro. Quienes se negaran a hacerlo morirían en un horno. Los tres hebreos le dijeron con respeto al rey: “Nuestro Dios a quien servimos puede rescatarnos. Del horno ardiente de fuego y de tu mano, oh rey, nos rescatará. Pero si no, séate sabido, oh rey, que a tus dioses no servimos, y la imagen de oro que has erigido ciertamente no adoraremos” (Dan. 3:16-18). En el emocionante relato que se encuentra en Daniel 3:19-30 se describe lo que Jehová hizo para rescatarlos. Aunque es improbable que nos amenacen con echarnos en un horno, lo cierto es que nosotros también nos enfrentamos a situaciones que ponen a prueba nuestra lealtad.
