Danda has the safest beach in Bandra with very few plastic bags - TopicsExpress

Danda has the safest beach in Bandra with very few plastic bags (relativity speaking) and a virtual lake at very low tides, yet no one goes there to swim, so its even more fun to swim or even walk around this beach. It feels that you are not in Mumbai but in some beach like gorai uttan etc You may use the tide chart below to track the TIDES FOR JUHU: windfinder/tide/juhu_beach_mumbai Best days to go there are few days before, on & after FULL or NEW moon days during SUNRISE or SUNSET as those are the lowest tides. If you plan to swim there just ensure that tide is coming in and not going out. Cant remember now but NEW MOON and FULL MOON low tides differ as one is lower/higher than the other in the Morning/Evening. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Best way is go there 15 minutes before sunrise starting from the lowest tide day and then go there at the SAME TIME EACH DAY for 15 days and you will know what it looks like each day and what to expect at different tide levels. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First go there when the tide is at its lowest as you will then be able to know how big this beach is and where there are rocks and where it is sandy. The very clam waters on some days especially mornings will lure you into swimming far towards the island, but take it easy and dont venture to far even if you are a great swimmer. When the tide comes in it just takes 20-30 minutes for the water to rise enough that you cant touch your foot to the ground and since this beach has a very gradual slope you may have to swim a good distance before getting your neck out of the waters. It happened to me once and now I always check the depth every 15 minutes and move back where it is chest or neck high at the most. But it is not an big issue if you can keep CALM and swim at least 500 meters without panicking, for if you PANIC then you will try and swim fast and lose your breath. Having said all this its better not take the risk at once and its best to experience this beach slowly over a period of days and use your own judgement. It took me almost 3 months to experience things at Danda and with guidance from the Kolis there. You may use the tide chart below to track the TIDES FOR JUHU: windfinder/tide/juhu_beach_mumbai
