Darleen and I were honored to attend the Military Child of the Year Gala last night honoring Ryan Curtin for his exceptional service. The son of a Navy Commodore, Ryan has set himself apart through his more than 500 hours of volunteer work in his military community, even enlisting 57 Sailors, Marines and Civilians to assist with his Eagle project. An extraordinarily humble young man, Ryan has service in his bloodstream with a Great Grandfather who served in WWII and an Uncle who is an Army Apache pilot. Ryan represents one of many children of military families who serve in their own way, helping support their families while also excelling in their own endeavors. On behalf of the Navy, we are very proud of Ryan and all military family members who strive to make a positive impact on their communities.
