David was determined to watch both his words and his ways. One of the greatest secrets to having powerful speech is to only speak that which is worth saying. First, is it absolutely true? Next, is what you’re saying absolutely necessary? Third, is it kind and will it bring glory to God? For the Bible says to let everything you do or say bring glory to God. Fourth, will everybody be blessed by your saying it? If it doesn’t pass those four tests, don’t say it! We recognize our own flaws and weaknesses and do not think ourselves greater than another. When we do this, we refrain from speaking rashly, or impulsively. We control our emotions. (H.
