Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is every bit as good as the trailer would suggest. A story that moves along at lightning pace but always stops to appreciate emotional significance, epic set pieces that keep you hanging on the edge, and performances from the cast that just nail down the emotion. Speaking of performances, fret not those of you who have a distaste for CGI, the apes in this film give more impressively human performances than a lot of humans I know. Five minutes into the film you stop thinking of them as CGI. The only, and I mean ONLY, thing that I wish had been more developed was the lead human characters. I wanted more time up front to get to know them before they get shoved into the center of the conflict, but in the end its the Apes story, and they carry it powerfully. Go see it : )
