Day 15 (Not diabetes related!) I am thankful for my wonderful parents. As my father in law approaches the end of his battle with pancreatic cancer and my friends and relatives lose their precious parents, I cant help but reflect on my own parents immortality. Its so easy to take them for granted as we raise our own families and go about our busy lives. Their unconditional love and support allows me to do this. They quietly (ok, sometimes not so quietly) step in just at the right time with support that only a parent can provide. Even when they dont, there is a comfort in knowing that they are there. I see so much of them in myself and often glimpse them in my children. It is so painful to watch my husband come to terms with the imminent death of his father but it inspires me to stop and truly appreciate my own. Saying a prayer today for my friends and relatives who have lost one or both of their parents.
